Week 5 Giants Postgame: NYG Lose 26-14, Fold Against Saints

The Week 5 Giants postgame is back to a somber and slightly agitated tone, as Big Blue lost to New Orleans, 26-14.

Both New Orleans quarterback Spencer Rattler and head coach Kellen Moore got their respective first wins in their current positions. The Giants, gracious visitors as they were, did not only give those two inaugural victories, but they also gave the Saints five turnovers.

This got ugly in a hurry, so let’s talk about this. (Okay, we will talk about it and you would have to listen, since YouTube videos are not two-way communication.)

Week 5 Giants Postgame: The Good

Big Blue got off to a hot start in the Week 5 meeting with the Saints. On their first two drives, the Giants had touchdown passes from Jaxson Dart to Theo Johnson. Dart showed good escapability on a few key plays and kept the offense moving down the field. Eventually, they found the end zone. The Giants led 14-3 after the second one, and appeared to be cruising.

And Then The Bad

Following the second Dart touchdown pass, New Orleans scored the final 23 points of the game. New York did not score again. What looked like a competent performance by the Giants did not even hold up for the first half, as they trailed 16-14 at the break. New Orleans scored the only points after the half.

Finally, The Ugly

The Giants turned the ball over five times against the Saints: Three fumbles and two interceptions. New Orleans came into this game with one of the lesser defenses in the league, but they came up big and the Giants did not.

Week 5 Giants Postgame: Unacceptable

A fan of the Giants could not watch this game and think that the performance that they saw in Week 5 was acceptable in any way. They not only squandered a lead, but they also squandered any momentum they created from beating the Chargers last week.

Making matters worse, they play good teams the next four weeks in a row, including two against the defending champion Eagles. They will have no time (quite literally, as they play on Thursday) to recover from this or take a breather.
