Did you expect to be happy about this Week 6 Giants postgame report? Neither did we, but here we are, because the Giants beat the Eagles.
The final for Week 6 was New York 34, Philadelphia 17, in a game in which the Giants were a touchdown underdog at home. This followed their 26-14 loss in New Orleans last week, which left many fans of Big Blue feeling cold and worthless, re-examining every failure and misdeed of their lives to wonder what supernatural deity they pissed off to exact such a cruel fate.
So, what did the Giants do in response? Throttle one of their most hated rivals and potentially send their season into a tailspin of finger-pointing and recriminations. (The latter remains to be seen, but for those who watched the game, it was the least impressive game the Eagles have played against the Giants in years.) The Giants earned their win, but Philadelphia also did more than its fair share to lose.
Week 6 Giants Postgame: Good, Better, Best
The Good
Giants WR Jalin Hyatt finally got involved in the offense, netting three catches. Without Darius Slayton in the lineup, the Giants were even thinner at wide receiver than they had been, but stepping up was needed, and stepping up was done by Hyatt and others.
The Better
Cor’Dale Flott had a big interception in the fourth quarter to essentially ice the game. It later led to a New York touchdown which put them ahead by three scores. Not only was it a timely interception, but it came as the Eagles were moving down the field and were in position to score. We might have been looking at a nailbiter with the Giants up 27-20 or 27-24, but instead it turned into 34-17.
The Best
The Giants get their first win in the NFC East in their last nine tries, and knock the Eagles off of their perch. Philly has done a lot of things to damage the Giants over the years, not the least of which was poaching Saquon Barkley and then winning a Super Bowl, while winning both games against them. Big Blue owed them a loss many times over and not only did they get it, but the Eagles looked bad in the process.
They may be 4-2, but they have played a lot of shaky games in the first six weeks. Philly should have lost the Rams game but for a massive choke by Los Angeles. All the other games were one-score victories. This is probably still a good team, but they do not scare you like they did in 2024.
Week 6 Giants Postgame: On Deck
Next Sunday, the Giants head to Denver to play the Broncos. It may prove their toughest road test so far.
