Week 7 Giants Postgame: NYG Choke in Denver, 33-32

Back to sadness in the Week 7 Giants postgame, following a bitter defeat at the hands of the Denver Broncos, 33-32.

The fourth quarter against Denver had to be seen to be believed, and that is not a good thing. In fact, if you are a Giants fan, it is a very bad thing.

Even with that being said, the Giants did some great things in their contest against the Broncos in Week 7. They just did not win it, which is a problem considering that they had a 19-point lead in the fourth quarter. It may not be the worst collapse the Giants have ever suffered (the 2002 playoff game in San Francisco would like a word), but it will be up there in Giants negative-lore among the worst.

Week 7 Giants Postgame: The Good, The Bad, and the Oh My God

The NYG Good

While it may be difficult to find the good in a dark situation, there was some. Jaxson Dart, outside of a costly late interception, had a very good game. He also stretched out for the go-ahead touchdown late in the fourth quarter. Dart demonstrated a lot of fight and poise, and looks like a star in the making.

For once, the G-Men also got a lucky bounce in their favor, resulting in a long Theo Johnson touchdown.

With regards to the defense, they played well for three quarters. You are correct, the game has four of them, but this is about the positives.

The NYG Bad

This loss to Denver makes for nine straight losses on the road for the G-Men. Their most recent road win was in Week 3 of the 2024 season (at Cleveland).

It’s not to say that they haven’t had opportunities, but in both Dallas and Denver, the Giants could not get the one stop they needed.

Further, the Giants missed two extra points, and lost by one point. Yes, he should make them; however, do not solely blame kicker Jude McAtamney for the loss. If the Giants defense does not completely implode in the fourth quarter, those extra points mean nothing.

With that said, the Giants need a long-term kicking solution. Their stubbornness and/or ignorance in that area has cost them games over the last two seasons.

The NYG OMG WTF

Does it need to be said? Okay, fine, we’ll say it: The Giants gave up 33 points in the fourth quarter. You would be hard-pressed to find a worse fourth quarter, or quarter for that matter, that Big Blue has played in recent memory. For a Giants defense that had done so well up until that point to melt down like that is almost inconceivable, even for this team.

It looks worse when you consider that the Giants led by 18, 26-8, with less than six minutes to go. In the final six minutes, they gave up three touchdowns and a field goal.

Week 7 Giants Postgame: What About the Coaches?

Brian Daboll, for now, seems content to keep his staff as-is. Some of us would say they can all go, including the head coach, but the fans in the seats do not make the decisions.

Week 7 Giants Postgame: What’s Next?

The Giants are off to Philadelphia next for a rematch against the Eagles. You may recall that Big Blue beat them in the first meeting in Week 6, but this will be a road game, and a much tougher assignment.
