Time to get into the 2025 NFL power rankings.
We rank all 32 teams each week, from the preseason through the end of the regular season.
In 2024, Philadelphia was the team to hoist the trophy, so people are going to be interested in what they do in 2025. This is, however, a New York-tilted sports website, so we have two teams that might draw your interest as well. (Neither may be for good reasons, but that is to be expected at this point.)
See where each of the team lands on or around Tuesday of each new week.
Last Power Rankings Update: October 28 (Prior to Week 9)
Why Did My Team Go Down After a Win, or Up After A Loss?
Remember, these 32 teams are all relative to each other. The conventional wisdom is Win Go Up, Lose Go Down. That is not always how things work, particularly early in the season. Sometimes, a team can lose a game but play well against top opposition, and other times, a team can win but play poorly; it just so happens that the other team was worse.
How the teams look and the overall sense of how good they are get factored into these power rankings as well.

2025 NFL Power Rankings: Quick Notes, Updated Weekly
Week 8
The Colts remain at the top of the table and still have football’s best record as we approach Week 9. If that doesn’t get you the top spot, then nothing will.
Should anyone out there wonder why the Chiefs are only at number 11, here is the response: If some teams in front of them could lose, they would jump higher. A lot of teams in the top tier won last week. This is also why San Francisco plummeted off of an arguably bad loss.
Week 7
You are not hallucinating: The Indianapolis Colts are the top team in the power rankings this week. They have the best record in football at 6-1. How we got here will have to be studied, because not only has Daniel Jones completely turned around his career, but other than the massive gravitational pull of suck coming from the bottom of the power rankings, there is quite a lot of parity in the league in 2025. 26 teams are still within three games of the .500 mark on either side.
Don’t ask me who’s going to win the Super Bowl today. I have no clue.
Week 6
The power rankings are a total mess. We have no undefeated teams, one winless team, and a lot of teams with records between 4-2 and 2-4. In fact, the 4-2 records start at number three (Detroit) and 2-4 ends at number 26 (Cincinnati). If you like uncertainty, this might be the season for you. The only constant is that the Jets are consistent in finding a way to lose.
Week 5
There’s a new number one, mainly because the teams we had ranked 1-2 both lost. Congratulations, Detroit. On the other end of the spectrum, the New York football teams are 30 and 32, respectively. Must be something about that stadium they share that’s hexing them both.
Week 4
No change among the top two teams this week, the only remaining undefeated ones. There has been plenty of movement among other teams in the top tier, depending on who won and who lost this weekend. Baltimore is starting their plummet as this is a team everyone thought would be good, but they are now 1-3, the same record as the New York Giants and Miami Dolphins.
Week 3
We have made the switch to Buffalo for Week 3 as our new top team. Philly was lucky to win that game against the Rams, while the Bills keep humming. We are extending a lot of credit to Baltimore for being in the top 10 despite being 1-2, given that their losses were to respectable opponents, but if they lose their fourth game, expect them to plummet. The Chiefs dropped despite beating the Giants, looking unimpressive in the process.
Week 2
Philly is still number one until otherwise stated. The Chiefs, not so much. They fell to 0-2 and are in trouble of their season going off the rails. We may have the Giants and Titans as the worst teams for now, but it feels like Miami is a serious contender.
Week 1
Philly remains at the top after being the preseason favorite. No surprise, even though they looked beatable in their opener against Dallas. Buffalo and Green Bay also look like they are going to be a big problem for the rest of the league. Kansas City did not impress, but it’s going to take a lot more than a loss to a good team to knock them out of Tier 1. The Giants are awful but for the time being, we are sticking with Tennessee as the worst team.
