NY Giants Week 11 Preview vs. Packers: A New-Old Era

In the preview for the New York Giants in Week 11, we spent more time talking about the news than the game.

Indeed, with head coach Brian Daboll’s dismissal on Monday, and the team’s 2-8 record, do the particulars of the game even matter at this point? Will an upset win over Green Bay catapult them into playoff contention? Of course not. The game’s outcome may matter for several reasons, but none of them are because “the Giants are going to turn their season around and go on a run.” That was not going to happen before they fired their coach, and it is not going to happen now.

So, what can the Giants salvage from their 2025 season? Perhaps something from the Green Bay game, though the Packers will be no easy foe to defeat.

The Giants are still stuck in their old era, but in a new way heading towards the Green Bay contest.

NY Giants Week 11 Preview: Brian Daboll Out, Mike Kafka Promoted

On Monday, we reacted to the firing of Brian Daboll. It was a long time coming. His offensive coordinator and assistant head coach, Mike Kafka, is now the interim coach.

Kafka no doubt wants to make a good impression over the final seven games of the season. Whether that’s to impress his current team or another one, it remains to be seen, but probably the latter.

Have any of the players checked out for the season? Will anyone else try to arise and make their name known as the season goes out with a thud?

Jaxson Dart Out, Jameis Winston In

That’s right: It’s Jameis time in East Rutherford. With Dart concussed, and no legitimate reason to rush him back, it’s Winston’s turn. Russell Wilson was passed over for the start, and let’s be honest: He will not be on the team in 2026. There are not a whole lot of people who would have wanted to see more of that this year.

Winston’s NFL career has been spotty. Last season with Tampa Bay, he threw 13 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. For his career, he has 154 touchdowns and 111 picks. If that seems like a lot of interceptions, it is, but that’s nowhere near the top of NFL history.

There is just as much of a chance he will throw a touchdown to the blue team as to the green team. At least it will be exciting.
