Week 2 Giants Postgame: 40-37 OT Loss to Dallas

Different route, but the same outcome for the New York football team in blue, as outlined in the Week 2 Giants postgame report.

The Giants lost to the Dallas Cowboys by a score of 40-37 in overtime, falling to 0-2 to start the 2025 season. While the Giants were competitive for much of the game, and had the lead inside the final minute of regulation, costly mistakes and lack of defensive pressure in key moments eventually did them in, sending Dallas to victory.

Week 2 Giants Postgame: Topics Discussed

In our postgame wrap on YouTube – and you should subscribe to our channel, by the way – we size up the following:

  • You may feel some level of optimism following this Giants game, despite the loss, because they were competitive. To what extent can we derive positives from the performance, and will it make a difference as the team prepares for its gauntlet of a schedule?
  • There were two particular reasons why the Giants lost this game, and are anathema to the idea of playing consistent, competitive football: Prevent defense and excessive penalties.
  • Russell Wilson played better, and Jaxson Dart made his debut.
  • Dallas is not the team they used to be. This game was winnable for the Giants, but they could not find a way to get the job done.

What’s Next?

In Week 3, the Giants head to the Meadowlands for their 2025 home opener. Their opponent will be the Kansas City Chiefs, by any measure a tough draw.

This will be a Sunday night contest.
