2025 NFL Playoff Picture Updates

January is coming, so the 2025 NFL playoff picture is here. This is a New York-aligned website, but you will not see either of their teams in the mix.

It has been another year full of misery for the two teams which share MetLife Stadium. This is nothing new, but we need to look forward: There are 14 teams which will make the playoffs, and one of them is going to win the whole thing in February. Starting in Week 12, we will track the teams who are in the 2025 NFL playoff picture, and those who are not.

Brief Commentary

Entering Week 12

The eternal first comment to be made: I still do not like the seven seeds per conference. The NFL had the ideal playoff system with two first-round byes and six teams per conference, but they got in their own way. Nevertheless, here we are.

Philly as the NFC’s top seed is not a surprise. Denver in the AFC might be. Not only that, but the fact that the Patriots are a tiebreaker away from having it themselves is shocking. Just give Mike Vrabel the Coach of the Year Award right now.

Were I Pittsburgh, I would not feel too comfortable about my spot in the AFC North. Baltimore has been moving up quickly, and you lose a few more games, not only will the Ravens win the division, but you probably won’t get a wild card, either. Kansas City is not great this year, but they will be a threat for a wild card. So will Houston. The same warning goes for Jacksonville, who are holding onto that last seed by their fingernails.

The projected AFC matchups are not super interesting, admittedly. Different story in the NFC, as two would be division rivalries: Packers vs. Bears and Rams vs. 49ers.
