Up to number eight on the CFB Top 50 countdown, the 2025 Alabama Crimson Tide are thinking playoffs again.

Alabama was the first team out of the CFP field last season, a rare playoff miss for the Tide. One would imagine that even with starting a new quarterback, Alabama will be ready to go in 2025. Being real for a moment, you and I both know Alabama does not rebuild, they reload.

Who will be leading this team now, and what’s their ceiling?

Best Game on the Schedule in 2025

September 27 at Georgia. I know you all expected us to say the Iron Bowl, but this game could have future SEC title game implications. Always a delight for the impartial fan when these guys get together.

2025 Alabama Crimson Tide: Outlook

Kalen DeBoer’s first season was not bad, all things considered. It is hard replacing a legend like Nick Saban, so if anyone is upset that he “only” won nine games, it’s not necessary. With that said, now that it’s year two, the expectations are going to rise accordingly.

Ty Simpson appears to be the guy at quarterback. Simpson has been waiting for his shot for years, even though he got to play in a dozen games prior to this season. Now, the starting job is his, and we will see what this former five-star recruit can do. Chances are, he will simply be the next great Alabama quarterback in a long line of them.

I’m sure Alabama will miss guys like Jihaad Campbell on defense – why wouldn’t they – but this is one of those programs that does not tend to have to worry about depth. Besides, most defensive starters are returning in 2025 from a team that was in the top-ten in points allowed (in a good way). They are going to be just fine.

Alabama has a fun schedule. FSU to open the season is always entertaining, even if my confidence in the Seminoles is lacking. Georgia is a serious game as you know, Tennessee and South Carolina will be tough opponents, LSU will be neck-and-neck with them, and then there’s always the Iron Bowl. Lots of must-see TV here this year.
