Next on the CFB Top 50 countdown, at number 15, the 2025 Arizona State Sun Devils will be out to prove they can do it again.

Seriously doubted in 2024, their first season in the Big 12, the Sun Devils made an immediate mark. This is a team which will be undergoing some changes in 2025, but at the same time, an experienced nucleus returns as they hope to repeat as conference champions.

Arizona State has a big chunk of offense missing from last season; that’s for sure. However, will the players still holding firm on the team be able to keep up with the high bar that was set by last year’s team?

Best Game on the Schedule in 2025

November 1 at Iowa State. It’s the Cyclones’ best game as well. These are two teams serious about winning the Big 12 again, so expect a knock-down, drag-out fight.

2025 Arizona State Sun Devils: Outlook

Arizona State might have some doubters out there, but as 2024 showed, it can also be easy to shut them up. The forked team was picked dead-last in the Big 12 preseason poll last year and ended up winning the conference. Now, they will enter this season with actual expectations.

The Sun Devils are most certainly going to miss Cam Skattebo, now off to the Giants. He was an offensive machine for Arizona State, with over 1,700 rushing yards and another 600 receiving yards. Who can forget his heroics in the College Football Playoff game against Texas, though it was a loss? It will not be easy to replace him.

Quarterback Sam Leavitt is back, and he is also coming off of a notably good season. In total, he threw for almost 2,900 yards and 24 touchdowns. He’s got his top receiver back as well, Jordyn Tyson. On the other side of the ball, Arizona State returns some talent on defense, namely Xavion Alford and Myles Rowser.

The Sun Devils more or less beat everyone on their schedule last regular season, so if they play up to that same potential, they are looking at another good year. How they replace Skattebo’s offense is going to be the most lingering question, but we probably will not learn anything until Week 2 against Mississippi State.
