2025 MLB Power Rankings

2025 MLB Power Rankings

The 2025 MLB power rankings are here.  Who’s the best, who’s the worst, and who occupies that big, meaty middle?

The rankings below will be updated throughout the 2025 regular season.  Try not to take these too seriously.  This is just a sports website, okay?

Before We Begin

All 30 teams are ranked below, in three tiers.  The defending champions are the Los Angeles Dodgers.

These power rankings were last updated on September 26, 2025. These are the final power rankings of the season, which ends on Sunday, September 28.

Milwaukee will end the regular season having been on top of our power rankings for nine weeks in a row. Remember, this is a squad that got off to a rough start in 2025, but surged to win their division, and will likely hold the best record in baseball when it’s all over.

The Yankees, who have caught Toronto in the AL East, move into third, which is one of the highest points they have achieved this year. As for the Mariners, they end at five, which is their high-water mark for the year. Nothing like finishing on a high note.

San Diego and Cleveland return to the top 10 for the final power rankings. The Padres had only dropped into the middle tier for a week, while Cleveland spent 16 straight weeks in either the middle or bottom tiers. Their surge into the postseason is one of many we have seen this year.

2025 MLB Power Rankings: Middle 10

Detroit and Houston are both ending the season on a low note. One of them is going to miss the postseason, provided Cleveland does not fall apart in the final weekend of the year. This is the first and only time Detroit has been in the middle tier in 2025.

The Mets have semi-stabilized in their wild card race, but with just a one-game cushion and no tiebreaker, it’s going to be an uncomfortable run to the finish line. Aside from Cincinnati and perhaps Arizona, nobody else in this tier is relevant. The Snakes look like they are just about out of it, two games back with three to go. Cincinnati still has a chance, but need things to go well in the final three games.

2025 MLB Power Rankings: Bottom 10

Miami has a chance to play spoiler in the Mets season finale. The Fish only left the bottom tier once this season, but they aren’t nearly as bad as some of the other teams that occupy this particular circle of Baseball Hell.

Atlanta had their best week or two of the season when it no longer mattered, just in case you wanted to know how their year went.

Meanwhile, Chicago lost 100 games yet again, but they were far from the worst team: Colorado won’t break a record, but they are one of the worst teams of the modern era. The Rockies have been in the last spot on the list 23 weeks in a row.
