With the season almost half-way done, how are the 2025 MLB over-unders from the sportsbooks doing?
After all, before the season began, the various bookies set their over-unders, and it was up to all of us to guess whether or not a team would do better or worse than that number. However, that O/U number itself is an indication of the level of expectation – or lack thereof – for a particular team. The point of today’s exercise, in our latest video, is to see whether or not a team has met their expectations from prior to the season.
2025 MLB Over-Unders: About The Video
For this exercise, we used the preseason over/under numbers from BetMGM. There are other books out there, and your mileage may vary (or kilometers, if you are a Blue Jays fan). We are not affiliated with any books and please refer to the disclaimer in the video.
For a laugh, you can also refer to our preseason predictions – and yes, we were just as wrong on the expectations as everyone else.
What Teams Are Soaring and Flopping?
If you are looking for two teams that have truly failed to meet expectations this season, you will find Atlanta and Baltimore. Especially the former, who had an over/under on wins in the low to mid-90s. As it stands now, they will not come anywhere near that. As for Baltimore, their recent trajectory has improved, but they dug themselves such a massive hole that it will be very difficult to catch up to where people thought they should have been.
In terms of teams doing better, how about Detroit? Despite a playoff run last season, expectations were very low, and they will blow past the over/under marks that had them just finishing over .500 for the year. The Cubs are more or less in the same boat, though people were taking notice of them before the season.
