2021 Summit League Tournament Facts

2020-21 Regular Season Champions: South Dakota State (15-6, 9-3). The Jackrabbits have done this four years in a row.

Defending Tournament Champion: North Dakota State (2020). The Bison have won the Summit League in back-to-back seasons. This conference completed its tournament last year just before the season was cancelled.

Denver finished in ninth place in the conference and is not eligible to compete in the Summit League Tournament.

Summit League Tournament Outlook

Well, it’s highly likely a team from one of the Dakotas is going to win. Three of the Dakota schools, South Dakota State, South Dakota, and North Dakota State, lead this conference. For one thing, do not count out North Dakota State just because they finished third in the league. The Bison are working on three tournament championships in a row, so watch them.

The two South Dakotas went back and forth leading the conference all year, but the Jackrabbits’ program has been a more consistently successful one over the years. South Dakota State should be considered a very slight favorite.

Oral Roberts is another team of which to make note; they won 10 games in the Summit League this season and they did win a game over both South Dakota State and North Dakota State.
