2018 Camping World Bowl: Teams, Facts, and Pick

Offense!

The 2018 Camping World Bowl has nothing at all to do with camping, but there’s plenty of cash involved, which is way better.

Down in Orlando, the West By God Virginia Mountaineers get a crack at the Syracuse Orange. Fans of crisp defense may want to look away from this one. The football will be flying and points will accumulate on the scoreboard like there’s a giveaway.

Which of these high-flying offensive teams is going to win?

2018 Camping World Bowl: Head-to-Head

As Syracuse and West Virginia used to be in the Big East together, these two programs have an extensive history with one another. This will be the 61st all-time meeting between the Orange and Mountaineers.

Syracuse leads the all-time series, 33-27, winning the last three games in a row. Their last encounter was the 2012 Pinstripe Bowl, a game the Orange won 38-14. (Link: Winsipedia)

2018 Camping World Bowl: Pick

West Virginia kept up with some great teams this year, most notably the Oklahoma Sooners. Scoring points is not their problem. It’s stopping the other team.

Syracuse is qualified to exploit this. Eric Dungey had a terrific year at quarterback for the Orange and expect that to continue in the Camping World Bowl. What West Virginia wants to get is a team that succeeds running the ball, but this is going to be a pass-heavy slugfest.

How have we not mentioned Will Grier yet? Okay, we just did. Oh, and he’s skipping the bowl game to focus on the NFL. Why should we pick the ‘Eers at this point? At least Syracuse is suiting up their star player.

Pick: Syracuse
