2018 NCAA Hockey Tournament: Our Predictions
Our tournament pick in 2018 are the Denver Pioneers, making it a repeat performance. They defeat the Notre Dame Fighting irish to get to back-to-back national championships.
St. Cloud State, the top seed in the tournament, should have no trouble with Air Force, but will have a difficult game against Minnesota State in the West. Denver has the best championship pedigree of any team in the Midwest Region. Boston University and Northeastern were done a favor given Worcester in the Northeast. Finally, Notre Dame will be the odds-on favorite in the East, but plenty of Providence fans will make the trip on I-95.
Denver has done well against NCHC rivals St. Cloud State this season, which is why we give them that nod in the Frozen Four. As for Northeastern getting to the Frozen Four in our picks, they’re a very solid offensive team that doesn’t have far to go to their regional, and they have likely Hobey Hat Trick finalist Adam Gaudette.
