2017 NCAA Tournament Bracket Picks: East Region

[lead align=”default”]Eighteen teams will compete, but it’s time to reveal our beast of the East in the 2017 NCAA Tournament.[/lead]

This is the only region with two play-in games, and as it stands, only one of them will make a difference. Most would assume that Villanova won’t go down in their opening game. Many will assume Villanova won’t go down, period. In a moment, we’ll let you know if we agree.

While the Villanova Wildcats are at the top, the Duke Blue Devils, ACC champions, sit at the bottom. Duke will be a trendy pick to get to the Final Four, and when they’re cooking, they can go a long way. The question is if they can go ALL the way.

Our East Region picks are as follows:

[alert heading=”11 Providence/USC vs. 6 SMU (Friday 3:10pm ET)” type=”alert-info” block=”false” close=”false”]The winner of the play-in game will be able to hang with SMU, but the Mustangs look fantastic.[/alert]

[alert heading=”15 Troy vs. 2 Duke (Friday 7:20pm ET)” type=”alert-info” block=”false” close=”false”]The crowd will be a sea of blue for this contest in South Carolina.[/alert]

[alert heading=”10 Marquette vs. 7 South Carolina (Friday 9:50pm ET)” type=”alert-info” block=”false” close=”false”]The Gamecocks essentially have a home game, but some believe they’re overseeded. Marquette will pose a stiff challenge.[/alert]
