2017 MAC Tournament Bracket
[lead align=”default”]Akron is going to try to zip into the NCAA Tournament this season by taking the 2017 MAC Tournament crown.[/lead]
The last decade has been good to the Zips. Akron made the tournament in 2009, 2011, and 2013 as MAC champions, and own the top seed this year. Should they take the title again in 2017, they figure to be about a 13 seed in this year’s big dance.

The Zips did play Gonzaga and Creighton, losing both games handily, but took 13 contests within their own league. Of their four losses, none were to Northern Illinois or Eastern Michigan, teams they would face in the quarterfinals. Ball State, a potential semifinals matchup, lost to the Zips in a tight game as well.
On the bottom end of the bracket, second-seed Ohio split its season series with Akron. Notably, the Bobcats beat Georgia Tech early in the season; no doubt the Yellow Jackets wish they had that one back now.
The hottest team entering the tournament are the Western Michigan Broncos, winners of eight in a row. They will play on day one against Miami, a team they pounded less than a month ago. WMU is a possible bracket-buster team to watch.
