Key NBA Friday Games: Memphis’s Big Chance
[lead align=”default”]Among the most important NBA Friday games tonight, will the Memphis Grizzlies take a hold of their chance to dethrone the league’s best team?[/lead]
Memphis hosts Golden State at 8:00pm Eastern, and the result could be a big boost for the West’s sixth-place team. Golden State is 44-8, running away with the whole thing, and embarking on a three-game road trip. As if it truly matters where the Warriors play, though: they’re 21-5 away from Oakland.
The Grizzlies are winners of three straight entering tonight’s action. If things break their way, they can jump the Clippers for fifth. We’ll soon find out if they can get there. As for the other big games taking place tonight:
NBA Friday: Indiana at Washington
Washington is one of the hottest teams in the East. They host Indiana, another team that has recovered from a lousy start to assume playoff position. The Wizards find themselves third in the conference, and just a few games out of second. It’s all still in front of this team, with John Wall playing great.
Washington hasn’t played all that well in their past few games, but this is a good opportunity for them to cement their position. Indiana, on the other hand, is a solid sixth in the East. If the season were to end today, this would be a playoff preview.
NBA Friday: San Antonio at Detroit
San Antonio is another top team facing a road test. They go to Detroit, who desperately cling to eighth in the East. With Charlotte right behind them and the Heat coming up fast, the Pistons need this one.
San Antonio is keeping pace with Golden State, but it’s something that they’re 40-12 and still in second place by four games. They’re still a really good second place at that, in part because of Kawhi Leonard.
