Wild Card NFL Picks: The War in Wisconsin
[lead align=”default”]The NFC playoff bout in Green Bay, Wisconsin headlines the weekend, and with it fast approaching, we make our Wild Card NFL picks.[/lead]
Oakland at Houston is a game of whose backup quarterback will stink less. In the Texans’ case, it will be their former starting quarterback, Brock Osweiler. So miserable was his regular season that he got benched for a no-name, and the no-name getting hurt put Osweiler back in the game. If it makes Texans fans feel any better, the Raiders might end up on their third-string quarterback. Fate is a cruel mistress sometimes.
In the other AFC contest, Miami travels to Pittsburgh. The Dolphins were years removed from the playoffs, so no doubt, they’re happy to be here. Based on the point spread, however, they may have to be content with that fact.
Switching to the NFC, Saturday night’s game features Detroit in Seattle. Now, the Lions aren’t playing their best football and Seattle looks beatable. Seattle is not a place you want to go for a playoff game unless you have tickets. Nobody’s saying the Lions can’t win, and Lord knows the Seahawks aren’t blowing everyone away, but difficult, yes.
Finally, the Giants against the Packers is a very interesting game, and may in fact be the best of the four. Green Bay is as hot as anyone, having fun the table to win the division. Meanwhile, the Giants are 11-5 and playing great defense, even without Jason Pierre-Paul. Of course, the Packers won the first meeting, but it’s a new season now.
One has to believe that Green Bay deserves to be favored. Don’t sleep on the Giants, however. Not like they haven’t done this before.
