[lead align=”default”]The good news is that our Week 2 NFL picks can’t possibly be worse than Week 1.[/lead]

Technically speaking, they can, but it takes dedication and effort to be as bad as last week. Good thing we had no money on the line. Now would be a good time to post our disclaimer: Our picks are intended for entertainment value only and are not intended as gambling advice. If you interpret it as such, that’s your problem.

With that said, who’s ready for some entertainment value?

New York Jets at Buffalo Bills (PK)

Thursday, 8:25pm (CBS)

The Jets suffered a heartbreaking loss last week to Cincinnati. On the other hand, Buffalo never looked competent against Baltimore. Logic dictates that the Jets win as the better team, but this is football so to hell with your logic.

No doubt Rex Ryan wants to beat his old team under the Thursday night lights. Given the line, this is a straight-up pick, and we go with the home team.

Tennessee Titans at Detroit Lions (-5.5)

Sunday, 1pm (CBS)

Detroit won one of the stunners of the first week in Indy, while Tennessee did as badly as everyone (but me) predicted. Now comes the swoon by the Titans.

The Lions are no world-beaters but they have good pieces, minus one who now cha-chas with Lindsay Arnold. Ideally for them, they will win at home.

Kansas City Chiefs at Houston Texans (-2.5)

Sunday, 1pm (CBS)

Kansas City pulled a rabbit from their proverbial hat last week, and for their next trick, they go to Houston to try to grab a 2-0 record. They do not have the luxury of playing a bad team. One wonders how much the emotional rollercoaster in Week 1 sapped them, if at all.

Houston played a much more complete game to lead off the season, and they are deservingly favored here.

Miami Dolphins at New England Patriots (-6.5)

Sunday, 1pm (CBS)

Now that the Pats weathered their first storm, they get an easier game against Miami. Don’t tell that to the Dolphins, though, who gave Seattle a run.

Jimmy Garoppolo will be just fine for New England under center, even without the formidable Rob Gronkowski lined up near him.

Miami seems to be the trendy pick against the spread, but we need to show the Patriots some faith after giving them none last week.
