NFL Power Rankings

Who is on top of the National Football League right now in 2017? It’s probably the New England Patriots, but you never know! (Update: it is.)

At least we gave it a few weeks for things to develop. Starting the NFL Power Rankings for the season after Week 4, though unintentionally, we know where the league’s bread is buttered, so to speak. We also know the crimes of the unspeakably horrible teams in the lot. You know who you are.

Without further ado: the NFL Power Rankings. They’re fun for the whole family.

FINAL UPDATE — Last Updated December 31, 2017

NFL Power Rankings: Elite

1. New England Patriots (AFC East)

Prior NE rankings: 10, 10, 5, 4, 4, 3, 3, 3, 3, 3, 4, and 2.
Like Belichick was going to lose to the Jets with the top seed on the line.

2. Minnesota Vikings (NFC North)

Prior MIN rankings: 20, 14, 6, 6, 5, 5, 5, 5, 4, 1, 3, and 3.
Now we find out if Minnesota’s defense is really the championship caliber they appear to be.

NFL Power Rankings: Excellent

1. Philadelphia Eagles (NFC East)

Prior PHI rankings: 8, 3, 2, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 4, 2, and 1.
The good news is the Eagles can’t get much worse on offense; the bad news is that they only have two weeks to fix it.

4. Pittsburgh Steelers (AFC North)

Prior PIT rankings: 2, 13, 3, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 1, and 4.
Pittsburgh, in essence, started the farm team and still beat the worthless Browns.

NFL Power Rankings: Strong

5. Carolina Panthers (NFC South)

Prior CAR rankings: 9, 4, 4, 10, 10, 7, 7, 6, 5, 7, 5, and 5.
Carolina looked very sub-par on the road in Week 17. They better hope next week isn’t déjà vu.

6. Jacksonville Jaguars (AFC South)

Prior JAX rankings: 17, 7, 16, 13, 14, 13, 9, 7, 11, 10, 6, and 6.
Now Jacksonville experiences a rare sight: a home playoff game.

NFL Power Rankings: Very Good

7. Los Angeles Rams (NFC West)

Prior LAR rankings: 4, 15, 8, 5, 8, 6, 6, 8, 6, 5, 7, and 7.
The Rams mailed it in Week 17 in preparation for a much more important game.

8. New Orleans Saints (NFC South)

Prior NO rankings: 18, 17, 11, 8, 6, 4, 4, 4, 7, 6, 8, and 8.
Backing into the division title is all good. They should be hard to beat at home on Wild Card Weekend.
